Our Story

Havana Travel Egypt is a boutique travel agency founded in 2011 by James Roberts and headquartered in the Hudson Valley, New York. We plan and operate private, tailor-made journeys through Egypt — nothing else, nowhere else.

Why only Egypt?

Because doing one thing well beats doing ten things adequately. Our guides live in Cairo and Luxor. Our trip designers have walked every temple we recommend. When you ask us "is it worth adding Abydos on our third day?" we don't Google it — we answer from memory.

How we work

You send us an inquiry. Within 24 hours a trip designer — James Roberts, Lena, or Amir — writes back with questions and a rough first-draft itinerary. From there we iterate together until it feels exactly right. There's no minimum group size, no fixed departure dates, and no pushy upsells.

Once you book, you're introduced to your on-the-ground team in Egypt: a lead Egyptologist, a licensed driver for your city days, and our 24/7 in-country coordinator.

Havana Travel Egypt is a US-registered LLC. We hold professional indemnity insurance and are members of the United States Tour Operators Association (associate). Our Egypt-side operations are licensed by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism.
