You will be met by a Misr travel tour manager ,and transferred to Aswan airport for flight to Abu simbel . Abu simbel temples are arguably considered the most stunning ancient sites in Egypt and second only to the pyramids . The two rock temples of Abu Simbel were constructed and dedicated to King Ramses II and are an incredible sight to behold. The other rock cut temple at Abu Simbel is the Temple of Hathor, which is fronted by six massive standing statues. Four of them represent King Ramses II, the other two are of his beloved wife – Queen Nefertari.
You will be met and escorted by your guide ,who will explain the history of the site, including details of the UNESCO-led relocation of the entire cliff face to higher ground, and how the temples were discovered by accident in 1813 ..
In a fit of architectural wisdom, Ramses II had the entire temple carefully angled and oriented in order that the sun’s rays would allign twice a year on his date of ascension to the throne (On22 February) and on his birthday (On 22 October) and illuminate the inner sanctum of the temple.
In 1972 the temple was re-located further up from the shoreline of Lake Nasser. For this reason, the sun now strikes a day later than Ramses had originally planned. After visiting the temples there may be time for a short visit to the small visitor’s center which documents the UNESCO relocation project . Transfer back to Abu simbel airport for short flight to Aswan and transfer to your hotel.

Solo traveler:
Accommodation is based on twin/triple share, so if you’re travelling on your own (independently) and would prefer your own space our Solo Sleeper Option is available as indicated in tour prices.
