Your own expert Egyptologist guide will accompany you in a private tour into the history and culture of Nubian. Start your trip by visiting to the Temple of Kalabsha which has been dismantled and re-erected on a hill near the High-Dam site (Western Bank). This temple was originally built by Toutmosis II and Amenophis II at Kalabsha, 40 miles south of Aswan, and was restored during the Roman conquest. Proceed to visit the Nubian Museum, a showcase of the history, art and culture of Nubian civilization.
The Nubian museum is established in partnership with Unesco in 1997, the museum traces the history and heritage of the Nubian people from 4,500 BC to the present through a collection of artifacts, many rescued from the flooding of Lake Nasser when a dam was built in the 1960s. Even the building housing the museum is modeled after a traditional Nubian structure.
The architecture of the Museum and the enclosure walls are intended to evoke traditional Nubian village architecture, as it was along the Nubian Nile before the region was flooded by Lake Nasser. Your qualified Egyptologist guide will show you some of the most important artifacts before allowing you free time to explore the museum at your leisure.
