Starting at Luxor’s famous West Bank, where 64 ancient Egyptian rulers lie buried in the Valley of the Kings including the burial chamber of Tutankhamen. Stop for a photo of the Colossi of Memnon; these two giant seated figures of Amenhotep III once guarded his mortuary temple. Continue to the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the rare female pharaohs. Proceed to Valley of the Kings, where kings planned to meet their Gods in the afterlife. It is one of the most famous archeological sites in the world and burial place of Tutankhamen whose mummified remains are still here on display. If time allows and you wish to visit the tomb of Tutankhamen, you will need to purchase a separate ticket.
Lunch at Nile restaurant, then you will be transferred to the hotel for check in and an overnight in Luxor.
Sound and Light Show at Karnak
Misr travel tour manager and your guide will pick you up from the hotel to karnak temple .The show starts with a historical introduction covering the birth of the great city of Thebes and erection of the Karnak Temple. The show narrates the glorious achievements of some great Pharaohs as you listen to a magnificent and poetic description of the artistic treasures and great legacy which the Karnak temple encloses.
After breakfast, check out and meet your private guide for your tour of Luxor’s East bank highlights. Start your explorations by visit Karnak Temple, a vast religious complex that was built and expanded between 2055 BC and 100 BC and consists of three inner temples dedicated to the Theban gods of Amun, Mut and Khonsu. Follow the Avenue of the Sphinxes into the complex and gaze in awe at the Great Court and Great Hypostyle Hall, where 134 thick columns tower above you like a high forest. Roam the sanctuaries and chambers as your guide explains their religious functions, and see the Sacred Lake, where pharaohs were cleansed.
Continue to Luxor Temple which was once joined to the Temples of Karnak by a two-kilometer long Avenue of Sphinx, a portion of which marks the entrance to the temple. Dominated by statues of the great warrior pharaoh Ramses II, The Temple of Luxor was the center of the most important festival, the festival of Opet. Built largely by Amenhotep III and Rameses II, the temple’s purpose was as a setting for the rituals of the festival. Enjoy a short ride on a felucca(traditional sail boat) on the Nile. Step aboard and soak up the surrounding scenery, perhaps capturing photos of the passing palm groves and mountains.
Return to your private minibus and relax on a drive back to Hurghada.
